This role, based in London, involves leading a project team responsible for developing and delivering engineering solutions from feasibility through to detailed design for Electricity Transmission and Distribution Projects. You will be instrumental in overseeing the design process for overhead line structures and ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards.

Principal Design Engineer Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead the design process for overhead line structures and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards.
- Oversee project schedules and deliverables to ensure timely completion while managing financial aspects effectively.
- Ensure health and safety compliance throughout all projects, proactively resolving any issues that arise.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering their professional growth.
- Supervise all design operations, ensuring adherence to established quality procedures and standards.
- Oversee site activities to verify that all procedures and designs are approved prior to implementation.
- Manage a range of structural projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to monitor progress and maintain quality assurance.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering).
- A minimum of 5 years of industry experience, preferably with overhead line projects.
- Proficiency in relevant industry software such as PLS CADD, PLS Tower, or similar.
- Familiarity with national and industry standards, including BS EN 50341.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
Principal Design Engineer Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: Circa £80,000 per annum.
